JICA project green house accelerates the advancement of organic farming

On May 18, 2023 the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after Skryabin (KNAU) hosted the opening ceremony of a greenhouse as part of the JICA’s project of Human Resources Development Project for Soil and Crop Analysis Technology at the National Agricultural University of the Kyrgyz Republiс.

The quality of soil fertility directly depends on the type of fertilizer used. In the greenhouse, tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs are grown all year round by using various types of fertilizers, including organic one, KNAU can collect information, conduct comparative analysis and develop educational materials of organic farming for farmers. Since the green house allows KNAU to conduct experiments even in winter seasons, it considerably speeds up organic farming development in Kyrgyzstan.

The participants of the opening ceremony of the greenhouse were Rector of KNAU, Mr. Nurgaziev Rysbek, the Chief Representative of JICA in the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Hiroyuki Kawamoto, Project Manager Kunio Nishizaki, as well as the administration and employees of KNAU.

In their welcoming speeches, the guests stressed the importance of preserving and reproducing soil fertility in agriculture to ensure the food security of the country.
